BGD Companies, Inc.

celebrated the opening of their new facility in Crystal, MN off of Highway 81. The move consolidated 2 previous locations and doubled their capacity.

BGD Companies provides custom manufactured furniture and offers the widest selection of booths and banquette seating, chairs and tables, imported rattan chairs, carpet and rugs for malls, restaurants, casinos, corporate interiors, country clubs, and much more. MEDA helped create BGD's first business plan in 1980 and over the years BGD has used many of MEDA's services and resources. Consultant Jim Faricy has been an ongoing advisor to the business.

Owners, Dennis and Sandy Diaz run a very successful business. 75% of their employees are people of color and they continue to give back to the community as MEDA supporters.

On December 2 the Pacesetter Program participants met for the annual holiday reception hosted by Lurie Besikof Lapidus & Co LLP at the Minneapolis Club.
 
This year the Program  recognized Salah Taraff, Taraff Construction and Jennifer Amys, UpNet Technologies, Inc.
as graduates.
 
The Pacesetter Program is our flagship program. It is a comprehensive and intensive look at existing businesses owned by entrepreneurs of color that show high potential for rapid growth and job creation. The program's goal is to enhance the growth and
profitability of that business - filling in the gaps of knowledge or financing, organizational infrastructure and internal systems.
