Client Spotlight
Mike Hudson
MICS Constuction Services
In January 2008 Mike Hudson came to MEDA for assistance to start a new business. Thirty years of corporate property development experience has uniquely positioned Mike to move forward as a construction entrepreneur.
MEDA and consultant Uri Camarena helped Mike obtain legal counsel, structure his business and position him as a majority stakeholder and President of MICS. "Moving to the entrepreneurial side of the business is daunting to say the least; Uri's support and guidance was well appreciated and helped make the transition for me as seamless as possible. Uri is an outstanding part of the MEDA team " Said Hudson.
MICS is a full service provider of union labor specializing in system furniture and retail fixture installation, interior and exterior finishing, interior construction as well as corporate facility maintenance programs. MICS serves general contractors, property managers, real estate developers, as well as major corporations.
MICS core philosophy is to create a collaborative work environment that cultivates innovation and productivity. This means that everyone from the management team to the craftspeople work together with a clear understanding of the project scope and deliverables to make sure that all of the pieces assemble into a well-executed project.
After starting out with just 2 employees less than a year ago, MICS is a Minority-owned Business Enterprise (MBE) certified by the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC), as well as other state and local certification organizations; Hudson currently employs 25 people and the company continues to grow! "MEDA is an outstanding organization that continues to be a leader in the support of minority business and economic development; it is an honor to be associated with this team".

Board Spotlight
Peter Glass
Peter Glass joined the MEDA board six months ago. As a member of the Xcel Energy Foundation Employee Advisory Council, he was asked if he would like to serve on the MEDA Board as a further commitment from Xcel Energy. As an attorney for Xcel Energy, he also represents Xcel Energy's supply chain organization. "I've known about MEDA for quite some time through my years at Xcel Energy. I thought this particular Board service would complement my activities at Xcel Energy quite nicely." Peter commented.
Peter is in the process of gathering information and beginning to understand what makes MEDA tick and is finding inspiration from the staff and other Board members' enthusiasm for the organization.
As Peter learns more about MEDA and its impact he is realizing just how valuable MEDA can be. "Serving on the MEDA Board complements my work function perfectly. On a more personal level, it's rewarding to be part of such a worthwhile organization."
Peter looks forward to becoming more knowledgeable and to help make critical decisions for MEDA in the future. "I would like to become more familiar with the many programs that MEDA offers entrepreneurs of color. In addition to serving on the Board, I'll be participating in the Strategic Planning committee and as a member of an Advisory Board for one of MEDA's Leadership Program clients."
MEDA is excited to have Peter on board! We welcome his expertise and commitment!
